2015 RAM 3500 Diesel Expedition Truck with AT Overland Aterra XLF Camper and Advanced Flatbed System

Extended overland travel requires more than a capable truck and a comfortable bed. Fuel range, secure storage, dependable systems, and a thoughtfully designed living space all matter when the pavement ends. This Ram 3500 brings those elements together in a distinctive expedition platform completed by AT Overland Equipment.

Originally an AEV project vehicle displayed at Overland Expo in 2015, AT Overland acquired and completed the build in 2024. It has served as AT Overland’s show truck for the past two years and has been maintained in excellent condition. Now available as a complete truck-and-camper package, it is the vehicle featured in AT Overland’s detailed Aterra XLF and Advanced Flatbed System walkthrough video.

The foundation is a Ram 3500 SLT Cummins 6.7 turbo diesel regular cab chassis with an 84-inch cab-to-axle configuration, converted from dual to single rear wheels and equipped with 4.44 regeared axles, ARB air lockers, and 40-inch tires. Total diesel capacity is 92 gallons, providing substantial range for remote routes and extended travel. Average fuel consumption is 12-14 MPG with 1100 mile range.

AT Overland’s Advanced Flatbed System makes full use of the longer CA-84 chassis with an expansive forward garage, large underbed compartments, and a rear storage drawer. The garage houses the 40-inch spare tire and a cabinet system holding ten STEP 22 storage bags, with additional room for tools, equipment, and adventure gear.

Aircraft cargo track provides flexible tie-down locations, while white and amber LED lighting makes the forward garage easy to use after dark. Independently mounted garage and flatbed structures use urethane bushings to accommodate chassis movement and reduce vibration transfer. Integrated camper mounting points allow the Aterra to be removed easily when the truck is needed for hauling or other duties.

Built in Prescott, Arizona, the hard-sided Aterra XLF features lightweight, fiber-reinforced thermoplastic honeycomb composite construction and an interior designed to make every space useful.

The dinette serves as a dining area or workspace, then converts into a sofa, double chaise longue, additional sleeping space, or an indoor shower enclosure. A concealed Wrappon waterless toilet conserves fresh water and eliminates the need for a blackwater tank. The forward cab-over sleeping area extends into a king-size bed with north–south sleeping orientation, has bedside charging ports, and drawer storage underneath the bed.
